Celebrating 60 Years
A service of thanksgiving
The Society's celebration began in February 2008
following the meeting of the AGM. A service of thanksgiving was
held in Westminister Central Hall followed by a reception in the
House of Commons hosted by Rt Hon Hilary Armstrong MP.
The service, attended by members of the board, tenants, staff
and representatives of contractors including prayers written by Rev
Dr John Taylor and a hymn written by Revd Brian Hoare.
Celebrations continued in Cumbria with a service in
Stricklandgate Methodist Church, Kendal in May. Tennants from
Cumbria, North Lancashire and West Yorkshire joined members of the
board and staff. Everyone enjoyed a delicious tea after the service
provided by members of the church.
In July we were in Scarborough for the Methodist Conference.
South Cliff Methodist Church was the venue for the service of
thanksgiving and a wonderful lunch. It was then on to the Spa where
the DVD showing the work of the Society was shown to the
Representatives' session and the President and vice President cut
the cake.
